Memories for a Lifetime

I know, I haven't updated since last week. Sue me. I've been utterly exhausted beyond words. I'm not complaining, the exhaustion was all worth it.

So our trip last week.

We headed out last Tuesday morning very early. I nearly had a nervous breakdown on the way to drop Kailee off at the babysitter's house. Honestly, I think I have issues. She's almost 6 years old, and I still get separation anxiety. Is that normal? Anyhow, after dropping her off and fighting tears, we hit the road to Albuequerque. I have now seen the state of Colorado from North to South. It so beautiful, I find myself wondering how I got so lucky to be living here. We arrived at our hotel in Albuequerque right on schedule at 2:30 PM. The city, at least what we seen of it, was not that great. The mountains around were pretty, but I couldn't get over how dirty and nasty the city was. At least the part we were in. We didn't have time for a lot of site seeing, so we didn't hit downtown or anything.

After freshening up and an early dinner we headed towards the Arena where the concert was at. We were shocked to find out it was located on thier Fair Grounds. It wasn't outdoors, but the arena was on thier Fair Grounds. And I'm pretty certain the arena was a rodeo hall. It was small, and smelled of horse poop. No kidding. We also were made to park like a half-mile away from the venue, and the walk was uphill. I was exhasuted before the show even began. It was also located next to a very small casino. And myself, I have never been in a Casino in my life. So I insisted we go in. It was small and pathetic. They didn't even have blackjack tables. But it was exciting none the less for me, being my first time to gamble! HAHA! I only gambled a dollar though, that's all The Husband would allow.

After that non-exciting venture, we headed to the arena to see the show. It was absolutely AMAZING. You never know what to expect with this band, and they far exceeded my expectations. All I kept thinking afterwards was, "Wow, I get to see it again tomorrow night."

The next morning we drove straight back home. I took a small nap, and got ready to see the band again that night. And again, it was amazing. Even better than the first night. After the show, since we were close to home, and knew the area well, we headed to the back of the arena where the band's busses were parked. Now this band is highly private and doesn't do "meet and greets". In other words, it's nearly impossible to meet them. But The Husband, being a drummer, would have waited till 6AM just for a small chance to meet the drummer of this band. We waited for about an hour with only one other person. We were harrassed by security of course. Told to get off thier property. But that was fine by us. We just waited on the curb. About an hour later, the Bass player for the band came out, and we yelled at him, he waved and got on his bus. Then about 10 minutes after that, the Drummer came out, and we yelled, and he came running! It was pretty amazing and surreal. He gave us all a hug, signed autographs, talked for about 5 minutes, called us crazy for standing out in the freezing cold, and told us "Thanks for your support". He was really nice, down to earth, and a real person. It was awesome. The Husband was so happy he was shaking afterwards. Myself, I just stood there frozen in awe. It was all so awesome, and definately made for a memory of a lifetime.

Needless to say, I spent the next TWO days recovering from our adventures. After a 10 hour total road trip, two rock concerts, and acting like a groupie for three hours, I was literally wiped out. But it made for an awesome annivesary, and an awesome Mother's Day gift, and an awesome Birthday present (which is next week). I wouldn't change a bit of it.

Saturday we went to Garden of the Gods. It's really a neat place located in the foothills of the mountains. It's a natural rock formation park. Lots of walking, but lots of amazing views of the mountians and neat rocks and stuff. After all day of that walking and climbing and being in the sun, I was wiped out again, and spent my Mother's Day being so lazy!

So needless to say I've had a great annivesary, Mother's Day, and Birthday. I couldn't have asked for more. Though I'm sort of glad to be home and back to normal life. Being a road groupie for a band is really not for me. Guess I'm too old.
